What event security from a protection firm looks like

A staffing company sends guards to stand at doors. We plan the event the way we plan a detail: who the principals are, where they will be, how guests arrive and park, where vendors come in, what happens if someone uninvited turns up, and how a principal leaves early without it becoming a moment.

For larger sites the advance can include an aerial survey of the grounds and the approaches, where airspace and the property owner allow it.

Guests who should not be there

Most event problems are social rather than physical: an ex, a photographer, a fan who found the address, a guest who has had too much. The goal is to deal with them before the host notices, politely, and away from the room.

What event security costs

Event security is priced on the number of agents, the hours (including setup before guests arrive and the last departures), and whether any agents are armed or assigned to specific guests. Most firms set a minimum number of hours per agent. A walk of the site usually changes the number more than anything else: one gate and a long driveway is a very different job from a house with four doors and street parking.

Working with the venue and the planner

Venues often have their own security or a required vendor, and planners run the timeline. We coordinate with both, agree who is responsible for what, and keep our agents dressed for the event so the photos look like a party and not a checkpoint.
